Program Schedule & Estimated Costs

Senshu University offers the JLC Program four times a year. Please refer to the following information for details regarding specific dates and details.

2019 4-Week Spring Term [May 10 – June 8]
2019 7-Week Summer Term [June 17 – August 7]
2019 12-Week Fall Term [September 20 – December 14]
2020 7-Week Winter Term [January 7 – February 28]

2019 Four-Week Spring Term

If participants would like to extend their stay at the Senshu International House (dormitory) outside of the course period (from the night of June 8), we permit participants to stay until June 10, 2019 for ¥1,400 JPN-yen a night per person. Participants will have to leave Senshu University on June 11, 2019 at the latest. Any additional accommodation fees will be charged separately before the program concludes, so please notify the Senshu University International Academic Affairs Office if you wish to extend your stay.

Any additional accommodation fees will be charged separately before the program concludes, so please notify the Senshu University International Academic Affairs Office if you wish to extend your stay.

Payment Method

Telegraphic/Wire transfer of payments should be made to the bank account designated on the “Notice of Acceptance” letter. Unfortunately, credit card or personal checks cannot be accepted. Please note that you do not have to pay the application fee (¥10,000 JPN-yen) prior to receiving your “Notice of Acceptance”.
Amounts paid are non-refundable.

 

Program costs include the following:

  1. Tuition, textbooks, and materials
  2. University & Facility Fee (access to the on-campus gymnasium, etc.)
  3. Transportation and admission fees for field trips to places of cultural interest, etc., and expenses for task assignments including, but not limited to, visits to museums, attending a Kabuki play, a Japanese calligraphy class, a one-day trip to Kamakura, company visits, experiencing a tea ceremony (Fall and Winter terms only), and an overnight trip to Hakone (Fall term only)
  4. Accommodation Fee (includes utilities and internet access but excludes washing machines & driers)

If you stay in the Senshu International House (dormitory), program costs do not include following:

  1. Expenses for meals (however, meals are served by respective host families during the home visit)
  2. Transportation to and from the dormitory or the airport (e.g. bus fare, train fare, air fare, etc.)
  3. Luggage delivery service fees (if applicable)
  4. Expenses for medical care and insurance
  5. Expenses for coin-operated washing machines and dryers inside the dormitory
  6. Personal miscellaneous costs such as entertainment or additional travel expenses
  7. Accommodation fees (if you request housing before or after the program dates)
  8. Travel expenses during the Home Visit (pertaining only to home visit participants)
If you can make your own arrangements for accommodations, such as staying with a family you know in Japan for the entire program period, you will not have to pay the accommodation fee. In this case, please note that you will have to pay any necessary expenses for the home stay and transportation fees for the commute between the university and your chosen place of residence.

Scholarships

Senshu University does not offer any scholarships or financial aid for the Japanese Language and Culture Program.
