The purpose of studying at the School of Law is not memorizing knowledge but rather nurturing the ability to observe society for oneself and resolve social issues. Given that law and politics were created to enable people to coexist with one another, comprehension of the pain and grief of others is another essential aim. Accordingly, the School of Law highlights both specialist knowledge and a compassionate mindset in producing well-rounded graduates.

Department of Law

The Department of Law opens the way to a broad range of career paths as attorneys and legal specialists or in positions at the legal affairs divisions of companies and public organizations. In their first year, students will establish a vision of their future, and from their second year will select courses pertinent to their personal preferences and future goals. Small-class instruction and fully-equipped facilities offer the optimal environment for acquiring the ability to “think legally” and planting a firm foot in public life.

The Judiciary Professional Course
With demand rising for judiciary professionals, this course will develop the academic abilities needed by a wide range of legal specialists, including attorneys, judges, prosecutors, and judicial scriveners.


The Legal Business Career Course
This course will train students not only for working in legal affairs divisions at companies but also for addressing from a legal perspective such business issues as finance, distribution, insurance, trading company operations, and real estate transactions.

The Public Policy Course
This course is designed for students seeking public service positions in the national and local governments, volunteer groups, NPOs, NGOs, etc., and offers them a well-developed curriculum in preparation for the civil service examination.

Department of Politics

Within our global society, political developments in individual countries are closely tied to the world situation as a whole. As international terrorism, ethnic conflict, immigration issues, and disparities in wealth spark increasingly fierce strife within the human community, never before has the study of politics as the study of the formation of public order been more important. The Department of Politics seeks to enable students to actively discover and examine the problems confronting our world so that they will be able to exhibit leadership in undertaking to resolve them.

The Course for Political Theories and History
This course will focus on the study of general political theory, historical research, and ethics/norms, taking up such questions as what freedom is, what liberalism should be, and what form the state will take in future. Students will examine political concepts and norms, including the latest ideas in political theory, in order to cultivate a global perspective that will prove invaluable in helping to mold the international community of the 21st century.

The Course for International Politics and Local Foreign Affairs
This course views the world as a single international community and seeks to understand political developments therein. Students will examine and analyze historical perspectives and political patterns in countries and regions other than Japan in their research, as they acquire the cosmopolitan outlook needed for positions in global companies and international organizations.

The Course for Japanese Politics and Policies
This course will enable students to better understand Japanese politics and the policy formation process so that ultimately they will be able themselves to develop policies for Japan. In the modern age, global political developments cannot be ignored even by local public organizations in Japan, and this course is designed to foster leadership qualities for a variety of arenas inside and outside Japan.


Evening Division

Department of Law

In the evening division, we offer studies in a wide diversity of subjects in various fields of law, as well as in politics and administration. We also offer classes that help students get various licenses.
