In addition, in order to raise the students' awareness of these problems and promote studies that meet their interest, the Department offers four courses--History and Development, Welfare and Environment, Enterprise and Information, and Markets and Government.

The Department of Economics provides internships consisting of special research and training activities that take place at companies, national and local government offices, non-profit organizations and volunteer organizations.

In the Department of International Economics, students undertake area studies by making comparisons between different regions and learning about the international economic relationships between Japan and neighboring countries. Furthermore, in an effort to encourage the students to understand Japan's role in the world and to convey a true image of Japan to the world, the department places a strong emphasis on developing communication skills.

The Department of International Economics offers lectures on themes such as "Regional Studies," that examine the political and economic situations of individual countries, "Issue Research," that deals with local environmental issues and international energy, etc., and "Comparative Research," where students learn about relationships between Japan and other nations.
