How to Apply

Step 1: Application

1. Complete the online application .
 ● Upon completion of the online application, you will receive an email containing your reference number.
          Be sure to enter the reference number in any subsequent application process.(e.g. 23-XXX)

2. Complete Japanese Comprehension Checklist (submitted electronically).
     ● Please go to the linked page given in the confirmation message after submiting the online application, and fill out the checklist without using any dictionaries or other outside assistance.

3. Send all other application materials listed below via the online form.
     ● The online form will be emailed to you separately after we receive your online form.
          *Please rename the files. File names must begin with your reference number.(e.g. 23-XXX)
1. A copy of your passport

2. Official transcripts
● File format : PDF
● Please rename the files. File names must begin with your reference number.
● These transcripts should show your academic records from the college, university, or school you have most recently attended.
● Submitted transcripts must be originals or certified true copies of the original document.
● If transcripts are not written in Japanese or English, please attach a translation in either language certified by the embassy or relevant public officials.
3. Health Check Form.pdf

4. Digital color photo (A single ID photo)
● File format : jpg (300dpi or higher is preferred)
● Headshot (passport style; facing front, showing your full face and shoulders, no hat or background)
● Informal or casual photos are not acceptable
● The size should be 4 x 3 cm (1-5/8 x 1-3/16 in.)
● Photos taken with a smart phone are acceptable.
● Taken within the last 3 months
Note: This ID photo will be used to make your Senshu University student ID card.
5. Home Visit Registration Form (Optional)

*The Home Visit Registration Form is not necessary for applicants who do not wish to experience the three-day home-visit.

Step 2: Notice of Acceptance

● The Senshu University International Academic Affairs Office will notify you via email once all of your application materials have been received. Based on the application documents, we will contact you regarding acceptance or rejection after the application deadline. If you do not receive either notification in due time, please contact the Senshu University International Academic Affairs Office to confirm whether your application materials have been received.

Note: Accommodation in the Senshu University International House (dormitory) is included in the JLC Program. However, due to the dormitory’s limited capacity, rooms will be provided to applicants on a first-come-first-served basis. Therefore, please be aware that applicants who apply closer to the deadline might be required to find their own accommodations off-campus (in which case, the applicant will be notified well in advanced).

Step 3: Payment

● Once you receive a notice of acceptance, please pay the total program costs (i.e. application fee, tuition and related fees, university facility fee, accommodation fee [if applicable], and home visit fee [optional] via telegraphic/wire transfer to the bank account specified in the invoice by the corresponding payment deadline.

Step 4: Visa

●Upon receiving confirmation that your payment has been completed, an official “Letter of Acceptance”  in PDF format will be sent to you. This “Letter of Acceptance” will be particularly necessary if you require a visa to participate in the JLC Program (depending on your nationality).

Step 5: Flight Information

● If possible, please try to arrange your flight schedule so that you can arrive at the Senshu University International House (dormitory) between 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on the arrival date specified for each term (i.e. “Arrival in Japan”).

Note: Participants are required to inform the Senshu University International Academic Affairs Office of their flight information (e.g. flight number, estimated arrival time at the airport) via designated online form once it is confirmed.

Step 6: Health Insurance Policy

● Participants in the JLC Program are required to have health insurance that will cover them during their stay in Japan. Therefore, please obtain overseas health insurance before departing your home country. You will be asked to submit a copy of your insurance enrollment certificate to the Senshu University International Academic Affairs Office before your departure.
