A Project Organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) to Enhance the Level of Academic Studies at Private Universities
In its Open Research Center project to enhance the level of academic studies at private universities, MEXT selects as an “Open Research Center” a front-line research organization that conducts its study projects in an open environment, for example, by accepting a variety of people to participate in the projects and actively disclosing study results, from among private universities’ postgraduate

research courses, research institutes or a combination of those. By extending focused support to the organizations selected as Open Research Centers, MEXT intends to help reinforce the foundations for the research activities of private universities, thereby contributing to the progress of Japan’s academic studies.
